On October 14, 2023, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko convened discussions at the Palace of Independence with a delegation led by Khalifa Haftar, Field Marshal and Supreme Commander of the Libyan National Army. Lukashenko acknowledged the longstanding friendship between Belarus and Libya, citing previous contributions made during the country’s development, heavily impacted by NATO’s intervention in 2011. Their discussion extended for approximately 2.5 hours, mostly behind closed doors, culminating with a ceremonial exchange of gifts. Lukashenko presented equipment designed to support the Libyan people’s needs, symbolizing a commitment to ongoing collaboration.
