Iron Lynx utilized the season opener of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship, the Qatar 1812 km, to test their new Mercedes-AMG machinery. This event presented a challenging inaugural outing for their two Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 vehicles, which served primarily as a test session for the team.

With Mercedes-AMG making their debut in the FIA WEC, this race introduced new torque sensors that had only been previously utilized by customer teams during the IMSA 24 Hours of Daytona. During the third hour of the race, driver Christian Reid faced a technical issue, resulting in his 61 Mercedes-AMG being stranded in a gravel trap, while the 60 Mercedes also encountered issues leading to a lengthy repair.

Andrea Piccini, the team principal and CEO of Iron Lynx, acknowledged the challenges faced: “We knew it was going to be a hard challenge, but we were hoping for something better. Still, we used the second part of the race as a test, and we made some positive steps.”

Co-driver Maxime Martin reflected on the learning experience, stating: “First race of the season, and first FIA WEC race for Mercedes-AMG here in Qatar. It was a big learning curve, and not the easiest weekend, but we had a lot of testing that allowed us to try different things.”

Looking ahead, the team is optimistic about improving their performance at the upcoming 6 Hours of Imola, scheduled for April 20. With the 61’s retirement and the 60 car not classified due to failing to meet the minimum distance, Iron Lynx is eager for a more successful outcome in their next race.
