Recent viral videos have highlighted the struggles faced by residents in Al Haouz, as heavy snowfall blankets temporary shelters, increasing the hardships for those recovering from the devastating earthquake that resulted in at least 3,000 fatalities and 5,000 injuries. Many families lost their homes, and the ongoing snowfall threatens to exacerbate their current situation.

To address the crisis following the earthquake, the Moroccan government has established a fund supported by donations from citizens and companies to aid the affected communities. Last January, the government reported that 56,000 families impacted by the disaster had received financial assistance for home reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts, boasting a completion rate of 95% and a budget exceeding MAD 1.4 billion.

In total, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, announced that over 53,000 construction permits have been issued to families in the affected regions, which includes Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Taroudant, Azilal, and Ouarzazate, representing 90% of the population surveyed in those areas.
