Concerns Raised Over Police Investigation in Pooley’s Murder Case
The GFA’s Frederick Acheampong has criticized the Ghana Police Service for their handling of the murder investigation into Francis Yaw Frimpong (Pooley). He questions how suspect Daniel Febiri managed to hide for two weeks before fleeing to Senegal. Acheampong emphasizes the need for improved investigative efforts by the police and expresses disbelief at the circumstances surrounding Febiri’s evasion.
Frederick Acheampong, a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed serious concerns regarding the investigation by the Ghana Police Service into the murder of Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley. He specifically questioned how Daniel Febiri, the prime suspect in Pooley’s death, managed to evade capture and escape to Senegal. Acheampong’s frustrations are compounded by the police’s inability to locate Febiri while he was allegedly hiding at his girlfriend’s residence for nearly two weeks.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Acheampong urged the police and appropriate investigative authorities to adopt a more proactive approach in handling the case. He noted, “Reports indicate that the girlfriend concealed the prime suspect between February 4 and 17, yet the police did not get a hint. I am surprised because the police are looking for him, yet the girlfriend hid him for that long. It is a major concern.”
Acheampong continued to highlight the apparent inconsistency in the police’s efforts, emphasizing that if someone emerges as a prime suspect, all aspects of their life should come under scrutiny. He expressed disbelief, questioning how Febiri could remain undetected in his girlfriend’s room for such an extended period. Following an update from Kotoko, it has been revealed that Febiri managed to flee to Senegal with assistance from his girlfriend, Grace Siaw. Currently, she has been arrested by the police for questioning regarding his whereabouts. Pooley’s funeral is set for March 6, 2025, amidst ongoing discussions about police effectiveness in this matter.
The situation surrounding Pooley’s murder investigation raises significant concerns about police methodology and effectiveness in tracking prime suspects. Frederick Acheampong’s call for a more thorough and proactive investigation reflects the urgency of justice in this case, particularly given the suspect’s escape to Senegal with help from his girlfriend. With Pooley’s funeral approaching, the public remains watchful of the authorities’ actions as they work to address these pressing issues.
