Chinese Peacekeepers Offer Free Medical Outreach in South Sudan

Chinese peacekeepers in South Sudan launched a successful free medical outreach, providing consultations in various medical specialties and distributing medical supplies to local villagers. Their efforts to educate the community on disease prevention and treatment garnered praise from residents, reflecting a meaningful contribution to local health care.

The 11th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion, collaborating with the 12th batch of Chinese medical teams, recently conducted a free medical outreach in a local village near their mission area in South Sudan. This initiative was aimed at providing essential health services to local residents, underscoring the commitment of Chinese peacekeepers to community welfare.

During the outreach, a variety of medical consultations were provided encompassing internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, and otorhinolaryngology. Moreover, routine physical examinations, as well as disease diagnosis and treatment, were offered to the villagers to enhance their health outcomes.

The medical team educated the community on preventing prevalent diseases, such as malaria, cholera, and monkeypox. Additionally, they provided on-site medical services that included blood pressure and sugar level measurements, malaria tests, wound dressing, and treatment for common illnesses. A total of 423 patients received care during the outreach, and 1,097 medical supplies were distributed, which was well received by the villagers.

The efforts of the Chinese peacekeepers and medical staff were met with praise and appreciation from the local population, showcasing a successful collaboration between military support and medical assistance, fostering goodwill and community health.

The initiative by the Chinese peacekeepers demonstrates a significant commitment to improving healthcare access in South Sudan.
