Three Zimbabwean nationals were charged with kidnapping a Cape Town man and demanding a R5 million ransom. They were arrested after an intelligence-led operation, and the victim was rescued shortly thereafter. The case has been postponed for a bail application, with the victim remaining hospitalized but stable.
Three nationals from Zimbabwe appeared in the Stellenbosch Regional Court on Monday, facing severe charges related to the kidnapping of a man from Cape Town. The accused, Luckmore Tawanda Muzhira, Takudzwa Trust Nzounhenda, and Itai Elvis Takawira, aged between 28 and 39, are charged with assault, extortion, robbery, and kidnapping. Their case has been postponed to March 14 for a formal bail application.
The swift action of law enforcement agencies resulted in the successful rescue of the kidnapping victim, who suffered injuries but is in stable condition. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, which involved ransom demands reaching R5 million and threats to the victim’s life. This case highlights the urgency and teamwork required in responding to such serious crimes.
