In her disclosure, Ranya Rao mentioned her extensive travel history, asserting that, “I have travelled to Europe, America, and (the) Middle East and have visited Dubai, Saudi Arabia. I wish to state that I am tired at present as I did not get enough rest.” She also noted that she had undertaken 27 trips to Dubai within the last year.

Furthermore, she shared her family background, identifying her father as KS Hegdesh, a real estate businessman, and her husband as Jatin Hukkeri, an architect. Her stepfather, Ramachandra Rao, serves as the Director-General of Police at the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation.

Ranya Rao, who gained popularity with her 2014 film debut in “Maanikya” alongside actor Kichcha Sudeep, has expressed her willingness to assist investigators while held in judicial custody. She claims her testimony was voluntary, asserting that she was not coerced, and mentioned refusing meals provided to her during custody, stating she was not hungry.

The arrest occurred during a significant gold seizure, with authorities confiscating 14 kilograms of gold bars valued at Rs 14.56 crore at Kempegowda International Airport. In contrast, her stepfather denied any connection to the incident, expressing his shock and devastation regarding his daughter’s involvement in the smuggling case.
