Tayali Advocates for 16th Protocol to Enhance Tanzania-Zambia Railway Revitalization
Transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali urges finalization of the 16th protocol to enhance technical cooperation for the revitalization of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA). He commends progress made by Tanzania and Zambia and emphasizes the importance of this protocol. Permanent Secretary Fredrick Mwalusaka notes TAZARA is under the 15th protocol. Chinese Counsellor Jin Jun shows readiness for feedback on the technical cooperation agreements.
Frank Tayali, the Transport and Logistics Minister, has advocated for the prompt completion of the 16th protocol aimed at enhancing technical cooperation to rejuvenate the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA). During discussions with Mr. Jin Jun, the Economic Counsellor from the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Tayali praised the advancements made by both Tanzania and Zambia in their revitalization efforts regarding TAZARA. He stressed the significance of formalizing the 16th protocol between Zambia and the People’s Republic of China.
Furthermore, Fredrick Mwalusaka, the Permanent Secretary of Transport and Logistics, pointed out that TAZARA is currently operating under the 15th protocol. He emphasized the urgent need for the government to proceed with the development and signing of the 16th protocol to enhance operations effectively.
In a related note, Counsellor Jin Jun expressed the Chinese government’s readiness to receive updates regarding the proposed 16th technical cooperation. He highlighted that existing agreements are open for renegotiation and was pleased with the positive feedback from the People’s Republic of Tanzania provided in the previous year.
The push for the 16th protocol highlights the collaborative efforts of Zambia and Tanzania, supported by the People’s Republic of China, to revitalize the crucial Tanzania-Zambia Railway. The calls for this protocol’s completion underscore the need for updated agreements and enhanced cooperation in transport logistics, essential for the region’s economic development.
