Tragic Tanker Explosion Claims Seven Lives in Niger
A tanker explosion in Karamin Rami village, Niger, has claimed seven lives and injured one person. The incident occurred when a tanker truck lost control and spilled fuel into a stream, igniting a fire. Those who perished have been identified, and the injured individual is receiving treatment.
A tragic incident occurred in Karamin Rami village of Mashegu Local Government Area, where a tanker explosion resulted in the loss of seven lives and left one individual injured. Ibrahim Hussaini, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), reported that this calamity transpired on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 6:30 PM.
The explosion was triggered when a tanker transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control on a poorly maintained road. The contents of the tanker spilled into a nearby stream where local farmers were working on rice fields. This spillage ignited, creating a fire that quickly spread back to the tanker, culminating in a massive explosion.
According to Mr. Hussaini, the ensuing inferno devastated the farmland, completely destroying the rice fields along with the fruits and surrounding vegetation. As of the latest updates, seven individuals have tragically lost their lives, and one person sustained injuries.

2. Ramlat Shehu
3. Rashida Abdullahi Raliya
4. Abdulrahaman
5. Zainab Ahmed
6. Zuwaira Idrisu
7. Maryam A. Nura
Moreover, NSEMA indicated that Maimuna Isah, one of the injured farmers, is currently receiving medical care at Saho Rami Primary Health Care.
The tanker explosion in Karamin Rami village has resulted in a significant loss of life and destruction of agricultural land. Emergency services continue to address the aftermath, while the community mourns the tragic event that led to the deaths of seven people. Efforts are ongoing to provide necessary medical assistance to the injured farmer.
