A Birmingham man has been convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to smuggle firearm components from Pakistan into the United Kingdom. The National Crime Agency (NCA) reported that Yasir Khan, aged 40, pleaded guilty to smuggling 72 firearm parts, including 36 top slides and 36 barrels designed for 9mm Glock pistols, concealed within a 1976 Datsun Sunny.

The NCA’s investigation revealed that Khan, who portrayed himself as a car dealer, was arrested in July of the previous year when law enforcement officers discovered evidence of his smuggling operation. His mobile phone contained voice recordings indicating contact with a Pakistani supplier associated with the production of firearm components.

Additionally, evidence suggests that Khan was involved in a similar smuggling attempt in November 2023. Authorities found that he had purchased several deactivated firearms, which he allegedly intended to modify into functional lethal weapons. A video released by the NCA depicts armed officers apprehending Khan as he sat in a vehicle, handcuffed shortly after the raid.
