Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall across various regions from Sunday through Tuesday. On Sunday, significant rains are predicted in Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, as well as the Highlands (both East and West) and the South Eastern Lowlands.

Rainfall is expected to intensify on Monday, potentially exceeding 30mm, and will extend to Northwestern Kenya. A gradual decrease in precipitation is anticipated on Tuesday. Counties likely to be affected include Kericho, Bomet, Homa Bay, Siaya, Migori, Busia, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West Pokot, among others.

Additional areas impacted are Turkana, Marsabit, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nairobi, Machakos, and Kajiado. Motorists and residents have been advised to stay vigilant as the forecast includes warnings of possible floods, flash floods, and poor visibility.

The weatherman cautioned, “Avoid sheltering under trees or near grilled windows (lightning risk)” to ensure safety during this weather event.
