Notably, Marco Sørenson, a three-time FIA WEC class champion, achieved multiple top speeds, with Tom Gamble, his teammate, setting the car’s fastest lap, nearly matching the pace of Ferrari’s Robert Kubica.

Tom Gamble remarked on the experience, emphasizing the learning outcomes related to the car and team dynamics. “There is such a big build-up in Qatar, but it was actually really positive,” he stated, looking forward to improving before the next race in Imola from April 18th to 20th.

Although the 007 faced transmission issues and had to withdraw, the 009 continued racing and ultimately finished 17th. Sørenson noted, “It was very special to finish the first race” and commented on the need for ongoing improvement within the team and vehicle.

Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance, acknowledged the challenges faced by rookie racing programs but expressed optimism in the Valkyrie’s performance, stating, “We saw plenty of indications that give us cause to believe we can be competitive as the season matures.”
