According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, officers from the Maitumbi Division responded to a distress signal regarding a disturbance caused by local youths. The officers faced hostility when they arrived, as they were reportedly attacked with stones, prompting a member of the patrol team to discharge their weapon, inadvertently wounding Khalid in the stomach.
The Divisional Police Officer of Maitumbi has been instructed to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the officer involved in the shooting. Community members have expressed their dismay, characterizing Sani as a peaceful individual with no affiliations to criminal activities. They emphasized, “He was a good person,” reflecting the profound loss felt by those who knew him.
