Botswana Diamonds Pursues Polymetallic Exploration with New Licenses
Botswana Diamonds has applied for eleven Prospecting Licenses for polymetallic exploration in Botswana, leveraging AI technology to identify valuable mineral deposits. The focus includes Copper, Silver, Cobalt, Gold, Nickel, Zinc, and PGM targets over an area of 7,322 square kilometers. Chairman John Teeling expressed optimism over the discovery of various mineral opportunities.
Botswana Diamonds has recently applied for eleven Prospecting Licenses to explore key polymetallic targets identified through their comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) exploration program in Botswana. These licenses cover a total area of 7,322 square kilometers and focus on various minerals including Copper, Silver, Cobalt, Gold, Nickel, Zinc, and Platinum Group Metals (PGM).
The AI exploration initiative, initially aimed at discovering diamond deposits, has now expanded to include the search for polymetallic deposits across the region. The licenses target five types of mineralisation: Besshi (volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits) primarily for Copper; Greenstone focusing on Copper and Nickel; MVT (Mississippi Valley-type) for Lead and Zinc; Sedex for Lead, Zinc, and Silver; and Ultramafic targeting Platinum Group Metals.
Chairman John Teeling remarked on the effectiveness of the AI-driven exploration, noting, “During the initial analysis of the big database, it became clear that the AI technology could be used to identify other unknown minerals opportunities and so it turned out.” He expressed satisfaction with the identification of targets for copper, cobalt, zinc, and gold, and confirmed the acceptance of their eleven prospecting license applications.
Botswana Diamonds is advancing its polymetallic exploration efforts in Botswana through the application for eleven Prospecting Licenses. Utilizing AI technology, the company aims to uncover various mineral deposits beyond diamonds, targeting significant minerals like Copper, Cobalt, and Gold. The acceptance of these applications marks a critical step in their expansive exploration program amidst growing interest in polymetallic resources.
