Tropical Cyclone “Jude” has made landfall in Mozambique, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. Central and northern Mozambique, along with southern Malawi, are expected to receive significant precipitation, with gusts reaching up to 14 levels on the Beaufort scale. According to the World Meteorological Centre Beijing (WMC-BJ), Tropical Cyclone “Jude” made landfall on Mozambique’s eastern coast on March 10, 2025. The cyclone is predicted to progress westward at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, with its intensity diminishing rapidly.

In its wake, central and northern Mozambique, as well as the southern areas of Malawi, are expected to experience heavy to torrential rainfall, with accumulated precipitation potentially reaching 100 to 200 mm. Some regions may see rainfall exceeding 300 mm, indicating the potential for significant flooding.

Wind gusts are projected to reach levels of 8 to 9 in the central and northern parts of Mozambique and in coastal regions. The wind near the sea and along the path of “Jude” is forecasted to achieve speeds of 10 to 12 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts touching levels of 13 to 14, emphasizing the cyclone’s severe impact.
