Uzbekistan Becomes Key Production Hub for Chevrolet Tracker
Uzbekistan has become the main production center for the Chevrolet Tracker in Eurasia, following the closure of its production facility in China due to declining demand. The localization level of production in Uzbekistan is now at 50%. The Tracker is also manufactured in Brazil and Argentina, showcasing a global production strategy.
Uzbekistan has officially emerged as the primary production hub for the Chevrolet Tracker crossover in the Eurasian region. This transition follows the halt of production in China due to a decrease in domestic demand. The Tracker was previously manufactured at the SAIC-GM Norsom plant, which has now closed to redirect the company’s focus towards other market segments.
Recently, General Motors announced the closure of its Shenyang plant in northeastern China, which produced both Buick GL8 minivans and Chevrolet Tracker crossovers specifically for the Chinese market. In Uzbekistan, the localization of Chevrolet Tracker production has achieved an impressive level of 50%.
In addition to production in Uzbekistan, the Chevrolet Tracker is also assembled in Latin America, with manufacturing activities taking place in Brazil and Argentina. This strategic shift illustrates General Motors’ adaptation to market dynamics in different regions.
In summary, Uzbekistan’s role as the main production center for the Chevrolet Tracker signifies a significant shift in automotive manufacturing strategy as General Motors seeks to optimize production in response to changing market demands. With a localization level of 50%, this move not only bolsters the economy of Uzbekistan but also solidifies the Chevrolet Tracker’s presence in Eurasia and Latin America.
