Previous coaches, Jose Peseiro and Finidi George, have struggled, with Peseiro achieving two draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, and George failing against Benin and drawing with South Africa. Chelle has substituted Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nathan Tella, who suffered an injury, with Joshua Torunarigha from Belgian club Gent.
