After missing the first two rounds of the championship, Martin has confirmed he will not race in Austin, Texas, on March 29 and 30 but hopes to participate in the upcoming race at Lusail, Qatar, scheduled for April 12 and 13.

Martin emphasized the importance of ensuring his recovery is complete before returning to the track, stating, “I expect to be in Qatar, but only if it doesn’t pose any risks.” He cautioned against rushing his recovery process, noting that premature returns could prolong his injuries.

The champion suffered significant injuries in a crash during a pre-season test in Malaysia, which included a broken right hand and foot. More recently, he endured a second serious crash while training, resulting in multiple injuries, including a broken radius and scaphoid in his left wrist, four fractures in his left foot, and muscular injuries in his right ribs.

Currently, Martin is facing a challenging start to the season, trailing Marc Marquez, a six-time world champion, by 74 points after Marquez’s victories in the first two races. Despite the setbacks, Martin expressed that his recovery is progressing well, stating, “It was a difficult time but now I start to see the light.”

Additionally, the Yamaha-Pramac team announced that Miguel Oliveira would miss the Austin race due to injuries sustained in a crash during the Sprint Race in Argentina. He will be replaced by Augusto Fernandez, the 2022 Moto2 World Champion. Oliveira’s injuries include a sternoclavicular dislocation with ligament damage as revealed by examinations conducted in Portugal.
