NASA astronaut Sunita “Suni” Williams recently shared her experience of viewing India from the International Space Station (ISS). Describing the sight of the breathtaking Himalayas and the Indian landscape from approximately 250 miles above Earth, she emphasized the beauty and wonder of her observations.
In a news conference held after returning to Earth, Williams and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore discussed their missions. When queried about how India appears from space, Williams expressed, “India is amazing. Every time we went over the Himalayas, Butch got some incredible pictures. Just amazing.”
Williams and Wilmore journeyed back to Earth aboard a SpaceX capsule on March 18, after an extended nine-month mission. This marked their return following a previous complication involving their intended launch with a Boeing Starliner, which disrupted their planned week-long stay at the ISS.
