Tata.ev Expands Global Footprint with Electric Vehicle Launch in Mauritius

Tata.ev launches Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev in Mauritius, marking its first expansion outside SAARC. The vehicles cater to diverse customer needs, featuring advanced technology, fast charging, and extensive warranties. Allied Motors will support sales and after-sales. Tata.ev’s launch aligns with Mauritius’s sustainable mobility goals and competes against established brands in the electric vehicle market.

Tata.ev, a prominent electric vehicle manufacturer in India, has officially expanded into the Mauritian market by launching its EV portfolio, which includes the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev. This marks Tata Motors’ first international venture beyond the SAARC region, achieved in partnership with Allied Motors, which will also offer sales and after-sales support for the vehicles.

The introduction of Tata.ev’s electric vehicles aligns well with Mauritius’s growing commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. The government is actively promoting greener mobility options, making it an appropriate market for Tata.ev’s innovative product lineup.

The EV lineup features three distinct models catering to various consumer preferences, while all share Tata’s reputable electric vehicle technology. The Tiago.ev is a compact hatchback, ideal for urban use, equipped with a 24kWh battery that supports a range of 190-210 km (C75 standard) and enables fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 58 minutes.

The Punch.ev is an electric compact SUV featuring a robust 35kWh battery, offering a competitive range of 270-290 km. It includes a 90 kW motor that delivers 190 Nm of torque, alongside premium features such as a 26.03 cm infotainment system and wireless smartphone connectivity.

Tata’s flagship electric SUV, the Nexon.ev, is powered by a sizeable 45kWh battery, allowing for an impressive range of 350-375 km. With a 106kW motor generating 215 Nm of torque, this model can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and includes high-end features like a JBL audio system and a 360° camera. Each model is accompanied by an 8-year/160,000 km warranty on the battery and motor, along with a complimentary 7.2kW home charging wall box.

Although Mauritius’s electric vehicle market is still emerging, notable competitors such as BYD, MG, and Nissan have already established their presence with electric offerings. Tata.ev’s competitive pricing and established reliability position its vehicles as viable challengers to existing market leaders like the BYD Dolphin, MG ZS EV, and Nissan Leaf.

The entrance of Tata.ev into the international market, starting with Mauritius, heralds a promising future for electric mobility. Equipped with well-featured vehicles and substantial after-sales services from Allied Motors, Tata.ev aspires to capture the hearts of Mauritians while paving the way for a greener transportation paradigm.

Tata.ev’s entry into Mauritius signifies an important milestone in the company’s international expansion, focusing on sustainable mobility. With an attractive range of electric vehicles suitable for various customer needs and robust support mechanisms, Tata.ev aims to make a significant impact in the Mauritian market. The competition will be challenging, but Tata’s established reputation and innovative offerings may resonate well with Mauritian consumers as they transition towards electric mobility.
