A 12-year-old boy, Adnan Bulana, was killed by a stray bullet in Minna due to a conflict involving vigilantes and suspected miscreants. Concurrently, a stabbing incident occurred among rival groups in Maitumbi. The police have confirmed both occurrences and initiated investigations into the violence.
A tragic incident in the Soje ‘A’ area of Minna, Niger State, has resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy, Adnan Bulana, allegedly struck by a stray bullet. This event occurred while vigilantes attempted to apprehend suspected miscreants who resisted arrest and engaged in violence, leading to gunfire and the deployment of teargas. Witnesses reported that the young boy was running an errand for his mother when he was caught in the crossfire.
In a separate but related event, tension escalated in Anguwan-Roka, Maitumbi, where a fight among rival groups of youths resulted in one individual, Safaryu Musa, being stabbed. Both incidents were confirmed by the spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who detailed the timeline and reactions to the violence.
SP Abiodun remarked on the first incident, stating, “On 1st April, 2025, at about 1220hrs, a yet-to-be-identified group/vigilante invaded Soje A community to arrest miscreants… the group fired gunshots and unfortunately, stray pellets hit one Adnan Bulana, 12 years old.” Following this, youths mobilized and targeted the vigilante’s office as a form of retaliation, prompting police intervention to restore order.
Furthermore, he mentioned the stabbing incident on March 31, 2025, explaining that it involved local youths participating in a brawl, which resulted in one of the participants being treated for a stab wound at a nearby clinic. The police have initiated investigations into both incidents with the hope of identifying those responsible and making arrests as necessary.
In summary, the incidents in Minna underscore the tragic consequences of vigilante actions and community violence. The death of Adnan Bulana highlights the risks posed by such confrontations within neighborhoods, while the altercation at Anguwan-Roka points to ongoing tensions among local youth groups. Authorities are actively investigating both cases to promote safety and prevent further violence.
