Killaboi Extradited from Qatar to Face Murder Charges in Nigeria
Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, known as “Killaboi,” has been extradited from Qatar to Nigeria to face murder charges for the death of his girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. His extradition followed a global manhunt and international cooperation involving law enforcement agencies from Nigeria and Qatar. Killaboi, who fled the country post-crime, was eventually apprehended through biometric identification methods.
The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, known as “Killaboi,” after nearly two years on the run. He is wanted for the murder of his girlfriend, Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student at Lead City University, Ibadan. The murder allegedly occurred on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Lagos.
Killaboi was arrested in Doha, Qatar, following extensive international cooperation involving the Nigeria Police, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Qatari authorities. A petition from the victim’s family prompted an international investigation on September 29, 2024, leading to his apprehension.
After the crime, Killaboi attempted to mislead authorities by releasing a false confession video and fled Nigeria. A Red Notice was issued for his arrest after he became a fugitive. He was initially captured in Sierra Leone under a false identity in October 2023 but escaped during a prison break. Eventually, he relocated to Doha under a fraudulent identity.
Biometric verification by INTERPOL confirmed his identity, and he was arrested in February 2025. The extradition request from the Federal Ministry of Justice was approved by Qatari authorities, facilitating his return to Nigeria for trial.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the cooperation among various authorities that led to the extradition and reiterated the Police’s commitment to seeking justice for the victim and ensuring public safety.
In conclusion, Benjamin Best Nnayereugo’s extradition represents a significant victory for law enforcement agencies, showcasing international collaboration in addressing criminal activities. The efforts undertaken by the Nigeria Police and INTERPOL demonstrate a steadfast commitment to justice and public safety, ensuring accountability for acts of violence such as murder. As this case progresses, it highlights the importance of vigilance and cooperation in the global fight against crime.
