Violence Erupts in Minna: Hoodlums Kill Bank Driver and Attack Activist

Hoodlums in Fadikpe, Niger State, killed bank driver Mohammed Abo’ore and attacked activist Nura Yarima during violent incidents. Abo’ore was stabbed while assisting vigilantes against drug-related activities. Police have arrested one suspect and continue to investigate additional attackers.

In Fadikpe, a suburb of Minna, Niger State, hoodlums have perpetrated violence resulting in the death of a bank driver identified as Mohammed Abo’ore and an assault on activist Nura Yarima. According to reports, Abo’ore sought to assist local vigilantes in apprehending hoodlums who were reportedly smoking cannabis in an under-construction building in the area.

Tragically, during the attempted arrest, Abo’ore was fatally stabbed with scissors by one of the assailants, Nura Buhari. Despite being rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, he was pronounced dead. The Niger Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed these details, emphasizing the vigilantes’ proactive response to the miscreants’ activities.

Following the attack on Abo’ore, the police successfully apprehended Abdullahi Rabiu, one of the involved hoodlums, who is currently aiding investigations aimed at apprehending additional suspects. In a separate incident, activist Nura Yarima reported an attack on him by several assailants, including Mansir Kabir, who used dangerous weapons during the assault in a shop along Bosso Road, Minna.

Yarima sustained significant injuries from this attack, leading to the arrest of Mansir Kabir, while police investigations continue to identify and detain the other individuals involved in the assault.

The incidents in Minna highlight the troubling rise of violence linked to criminal activities, as demonstrated by the tragic death of Mohammed Abo’ore and the attack on activist Nura Yarima. The police have initiated inquiries that could lead to further arrests, underscoring the community’s efforts to combat these threats.
