Missionary Jackie Shroyer Charged in Husband Beau’s Murder in Angola

Jackie Shroyer has been charged in the murder of her husband, Beau, in Angola. Pastor Troy Easton announced the charges and the custody situation. Allegations point to Jackie being the mastermind behind the crime, with several others involved. The children will be cared for by family as legal proceedings continue, and the family recently held a memorial service for Beau.

A former Detroit Lakes resident, Jackie Shroyer, has been officially charged in connection with the murder of her husband, Beau Shroyer, which occurred on October 25, 2024, in Angola. Beau Shroyer, a former police officer and missionary, was serving alongside his family when the tragic incident happened. Jackie is described as a “co-author” in the case, and her charges have raised numerous questions about the circumstances surrounding her husband’s death.

This disheartening news was communicated by Pastor Troy M. Easton of Lakes Area Vineyard Church, who stated, “I made the commitment that I would update you on any news regarding the investigation around Beau Shroyer’s death.” Due to the latest developments in the case, Jackie Shroyer is expected to remain in custody pending her trial. Pastor Easton further mentioned, “As a result of formal charges, it is our understanding that she will remain in custody and be tried before a judge.”

In addition to Jackie, several young men from Angola, all with previous records of armed robbery and kidnapping, have also been implicated in the murder, as reported by Angola’s federal Criminal Investigation Service (CIS). While the exact court date for Jackie has yet to be determined, Easton asserts it may occur within the upcoming six months. The children of Beau and Jackie will reportedly be cared for by nearby family members, with assistance from both SIM and the church.

With the legal proceedings still unfolding, Pastor Easton expressed, “We will not be able to comment any further at this time. I’m so very sorry. Please continue to cling to the Lord and His unchanging character, nature and love and continue to pray for truth to be clear, for justice to be served and for God’s kingdom to come and will to be done.”

According to a report by the Angolan Press Agency on November 7, the CIS accuses Jackie of being the “mastermind” of the fatal incident. Allegedly, Beau was lured to a secluded location by the suspects, who pretended to have problems with their vehicle. During the alleged attack, Jackie was not present. Interestingly, authorities questioned her emotional authenticity, suggesting she feigned distress when police arrived.

As for the possible motive, Superintendent of Criminal Investigation Manuel Halaiwa hinted at a “strong suspicion of a romantic relationship” between Jackie and the security guard accused, as well as indications that Jackie was reluctant to leave Angola when Beau’s mission was concluding. The CIS claims to have collected significant evidence, including the vehicle used in the crime and a knife believed to be the murder weapon, along with cash that appears to be related to the plot.

Meanwhile, Jackie Shroyer currently remains in preventive detention under a judge’s explicit order. In a touching post made on a GoFundMe page organized by Beau’s family, they shared insights about his memorial service held on November 30. The family reflected upon their cherished moments with Beau, emphasizing the emotional journey they encountered following his untimely passing.

Describing the challenges they faced in bringing Beau back home, the family noted delays after his body was flown from Angola to Paris and then to Minneapolis. As they delayed his graveside service to December 21, they expressed relief and gratitude for Beau’s return, sharing, “We feel so blessed to have him ‘home,’ where we’ll be able to visit him when we need that comfort. Thank you again for your support.”

Despite the sorrows, the family chose to remember Beau with humor, mentioning, “if you knew Beau, we hope you’ll find humor in the fact that he was literally late to his own funeral! There’s no doubt he’d have had a good laugh about it!” The GoFundMe campaign for Beau Shroyer successfully raised over $15,000 to support his family during this difficult time.

The allegations against Jackie Shroyer, who has been charged as a co-author in her husband’s murder, bring forth numerous questions as the legal proceedings progress. With evidence suggesting a complex motivation and involvement of others, the judicial outcomes remain to be seen. The Shroyer family seeks support and comfort during these trying times, reflecting on the treasured memories of Beau while navigating through the aftermath of tragedy.
