The 25th Chinese medical team provided free clinic services in Maputo, Mozambique, offering consultations and medicines to about 360 patients. The team included specialists in various medical fields and also provided educational materials in Portuguese. Local residents expressed gratitude for their care and support, with hopes for continued collaboration to improve healthcare access.

On June 12, 2025, a team of Chinese medical professionals provided vital healthcare services in Maputo, Mozambique. This initiative, part of the 25th Chinese medical team in the country, took place at the Incassane Rural Health Center. Ten specialists covering various fields—including orthopedics, spinal surgery, and gynecology—offered consultations and free medications to approximately 360 local residents.

The Chinese medical team actively engaged with the community, even creating Portuguese-language educational posters that addressed common diseases. This not only promoted health awareness but also empowered locals to manage their health more effectively.

Local resident Argina Rosario expressed her gratitude for the service, highlighting the challenges faced in other hospitals. “They deserve our appreciation. In other hospitals, the treatment process is complicated and exhausting, often making us give up halfway. I truly hope today’s visit will improve my condition,” she shared.

Cristina Francisco, a 78-year-old woman, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the attentive care she received was exceptionally beneficial. “At my age, it’s hard to queue at the hospital. Today, I not only received treatment near my home but also got real, tangible help,” she remarked.

The director of the Incassane Rural Health Center, Ilidio Silva Cavele, also voiced his appreciation for the Chinese team’s efforts. “We are very pleased and thankful for this activity. The support from multiple Chinese specialists has significantly improved our medical capacity. They not only provided free consultations but also donated medicine,” he stated, expressing hope for ongoing collaboration that would aid the country’s healthcare development.

Ma Litai, the leader of the Chinese medical team, pointed out that this year marks a significant milestone—the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Mozambique. He emphasized their ongoing commitment to reaching out to local communities, saying, “We have already carried out two free clinics this year and will continue to serve the people and strengthen exchanges and technical cooperation with local healthcare professionals.”

Overall, this event illustrates a successful partnership aimed at improving health services for vulnerable populations in Mozambique.

The 25th Chinese medical team’s visit to Maputo highlights a meaningful healthcare initiative that combines medical expertise with community service. Local residents benefited from free consultations and medications, illustrating the importance of proactive healthcare approaches. Moreover, the collaboration symbolizes the ongoing relationship between China and Mozambique, celebrating 50 years of diplomatic ties while promising future healthcare projects.
