G Praveen, a 26-year-old Telangana student, was found dead with bullet wounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His family was informed of the incident by US authorities. A 26-year-old student from Telangana, G Praveen, was reportedly discovered deceased with bullet wounds in the United States, though the specifics surrounding his death remain unclear, according to statements from his family. Praveen was enrolled in a Master’s program in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and US authorities notified his family of his death on Wednesday morning, India time. Family members learned from friends that the student’s body bore bullet wounds, as conveyed by his cousin, Arun.
Reports suggest that Praveen may have been targeted by unidentified assailants at a store, however, the family has not confirmed the cause of death. Arun mentioned that Praveen attempted to contact his father early Wednesday morning; unfortunately, the elder was unable to answer due to sleep. The family is experiencing profound shock after receiving the tragic news.
Praveen hailed from Ranga Reddy district, which is close to Hyderabad. US authorities informed his family that an autopsy would establish the exact cause of death. Praveen completed his Bachelor of Technology in Hyderabad and had traveled to the US in early 2023. He visited India during December 2024 before returning to the US in January.
In light of these events, the family has reached out to local MLAs and other dignitaries for assistance. It is alarming to note that at least two other students from Telangana have been victims of gun violence in the US – one from Khammam last November and another from Hyderabad in January of the current year.
The tragic death of G Praveen, a 26-year-old student from Telangana, underscores the ongoing concerns regarding student safety abroad. As investigations proceed and efforts for support are made, the community mourns the loss of a young individual striving for education in the United States. The incident brings to light a disturbing pattern affecting students from the region.
