The Kenya Meteorological Department warns of heavy rainfall across several regions in Kenya from March 7 to March 11, 2025. Areas affected include the highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the coastal region. While some regions will receive extensive rainfall, the North Eastern region will remain dry and sunny. High temperatures exceeding 30°C are also anticipated, along with strong winds in certain areas.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding heavy rainfall anticipated across multiple regions in Kenya from Friday, March 7, 2025, to Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Eight regions are expected to be impacted, including the highlands on both the eastern and western sides of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, as well as the Central and South Rift Valley.

Additional areas likely to experience rainfall encompass the Coastal Region, southeastern lowlands, northwestern regions, and segments of the southern coast. The department warns that most areas will initially endure dry and hot weather, with potential rainfall commencing over the weekend.

Counties located in the eastern highlands, such as Nairobi, Nyandarua, and Laikipia, are forecasted to receive significant rainfall from Saturday through Tuesday, following a day of sunny conditions. Similarly, heavy rainfall is expected from Sunday through Tuesday across counties in the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley, including Siaya and Kisumu.

Nevertheless, counties in the North Eastern region, including Marsabit and Mandera, will remain unaffected by the rain and will experience dry weather. The meteorological department also cautioned about high temperatures exceeding 30°C in most areas, with some regions in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley remaining cooler. Furthermore, strong south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots are anticipated in parts of northwestern and northeastern Kenya.

In summary, the Kenya Meteorological Department has announced a week of moderate to heavy rainfall impacting various regions, primarily from March 7 to 11, 2025. While some areas will experience significant rainfall, others, particularly in the North Eastern region, will remain dry. Residents should prepare for fluctuating weather conditions and potential storms over the weekend.
