The chairman highlighted three specific recent tragedies: the fatal shooting of a Keke NAPEP rider, a female immigration officer shot near the Obasanjo Shopping Complex, and the murder of a young professional footballer in Maitumbi, purportedly by a drunken police officer. He asserted that these incidents reveal a disturbing trend of extrajudicial killings.

Barrister Barau urged immediate action, advocating for thorough investigations, prosecution of the implicated officers, compensation for victims, and essential preventive measures, such as reassessing firearm protocols and providing psychological support to active-duty officers. Furthermore, he warned that any attempts to shield the perpetrators would result in significant legal action and public advocacy.
