CU Hand Surgery Experts Enhance Surgical Skills in Tanzania
Dr. Mark Greyson from CU conducted a training session for Tanzanian surgeons in advanced plastic surgery at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre. Accompanied by chief resident Dr. Caleb Barnhill, they provided training and equipment, focusing on microsurgeries. Their mission aimed to address regional surgical needs and establish long-term partnerships for future training opportunities.
Mark Greyson, M.D., an assistant professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Colorado, undertook a significant mission to the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Tanzania. In November, he trained local surgeons on advanced hand surgery techniques, supported by a grant from the American Association for Hand Surgery. This initiative marked a return for Greyson, who previously visited Tanzania as a medical student in 2012.
The training mission undertaken by Dr. Greyson and Dr. Barnhill illustrates a commitment to enhancing surgical capabilities in Tanzania. Their efforts not only provided essential training but also introduced vital equipment, ultimately aiming to improve patient care in the region. Ongoing collaboration is envisioned to foster growth in local surgical practices and inspire future advancements in healthcare.
