A Sacramento funeral home is accused of mistakenly sending a stranger’s body to Francisco Quintanilla’s family in El Salvador. The family, who sought La Paz Funeral Services for arrangements, found the mix-up devastating during the funeral. Legal action has been initiated, alleging negligence and a failure to provide promised services, with no offer of reimbursement to the family.
A tragic incident has been reported involving a funeral home in Sacramento, California, which has allegedly sent the wrong body to a family in El Salvador. The family had engaged La Paz Funeral Services to handle the arrangements for Francisco Quintanilla, who had passed away last November after immigrating to the U.S. from El Salvador. He had worked tirelessly to support his wife and three children back home.
The lawsuit details the harrowing experience suffered by the Quintanilla family when they discovered a stranger’s body in the casket during the funeral. Their attorney, Rob Marcereau, argues that La Paz Funeral Services, which primarily serves the Latino community, exploited the family’s trust, leading to this distressing error. “The family planned a beautiful goodbye for him and instead what they got was a nightmare,” stated Marcereau.
Upon notifying La Paz of the grievous mistake, the family was directed to return the incorrect body to the airport. Alarmingly, La Paz could not initially locate where Quintanilla’s body had been sent. After two weeks, they reportedly located the remains, yet the family was confronted with a disturbing sight when they finally accessed his body.
The family’s attorney has alleged that the business and its staff were not qualified to provide the promised services, suggesting negligence in their operations. “Their final memory of Francisco is this horrifying image that they will never be able to erase,” Marcereau asserted. Despite the distressing events, the family has reportedly not received a refund, and their repeated attempts to contact La Paz Funeral Services have been unsuccessful.
