Parents of Missing College Student Seek Declaration of Death After 11 Days
Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old college student, has been missing for 11 days in the Dominican Republic. Her parents have requested authorities to declare her deceased. Joshua Riibe, a person of interest, was reportedly the last to see her alive. Investigations continue regarding her disappearance while her family seeks closure.
Parents of missing college student Sudiksha Konanki, 20, are requesting Dominican authorities to declare their daughter dead, 11 days after she disappeared during a spring break trip to Punta Cana. Konanki was last seen on March 6, early Morning, participating in a beach walk while staying at the Riu Republica Resort with five friends from the University of Pittsburgh.
Joshua Riibe, 24, is a person of interest in the case, reportedly the last individual seen with Konanki as they swam that morning. However, he has not been charged with any crime. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) confirmed that Konanki’s parents reached out seeking closure as they navigate this traumatic situation.
On March 17, a letter was sent to the Dominican Republic authorities requesting a declaration of death, acknowledging necessary legal procedures. The letter acknowledged no suspicion of foul play and expressed gratitude for the ongoing investigation. This request further indicates the family’s desire for closure regarding Konanki’s disappearance.
Authorities have already interviewed the friends traveling with Konanki, and the ongoing investigation involves examining her last known whereabouts. Reports indicate that clothing belonging to Konanki was discovered on a chaise lounge at the beach, with no signs of violence present among the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
Video surveillance captured Konanki and her group departing for the beach shortly after 4:15 a.m. on March 6. While others left, she remained with one individual, suggesting a potential swimming incident leading her presumed drowning, though this theory remains under investigation without confirmation from law enforcement. The search for Konanki’s body continues, with no conclusive evidence establishing her status as yet.
The case of Sudiksha Konanki remains unresolved as her parents seek closure by requesting a declaration of death. Various investigative efforts are ongoing, including interviews with her friends and examination of her last known actions. Joshua Riibe remains under scrutiny, albeit not charged, while authorities work diligently to gather more information regarding Konanki’s fate in the Dominican Republic. The outcome and potential determination of her death signify a significant emotional chapter for her family as they endure this challenging period.
