Unlike conventional ice cream stores, their offerings prioritize health, featuring ice cream made fresh without preservatives, allowing for better texture retention.
Despite their promising beginning, the café encountered significant challenges. Initially, the location attracted families from the park across the street, but foot traffic declined mysteriously in spring 2023, adversely affecting local businesses. Financial strains worsened by late 2023 due to a loss of supplementary income for Kimble and Dorce’s high-risk pregnancy led them to temporarily close the café in December.
Kravings Kafe was revitalized in January after being showcased on the Instagram page “Success is Us,” garnering celebrity attention and support from the Caribbean and Haitian communities. However, the café reopened with limited hours while they balanced family, operations, and staffing shortages.
Dorce expressed a desire for more support for Black entrepreneurs, noting the challenges they face in accessing resources compared to other ethnic groups. Despite struggles, there is hope for expansion, with ambitions to create a sustainable franchise. Their motto, “Eat What You Krave,” reflects their dedication to providing both sweet and healthy options.
