Nigeria Police Neutralize Vandals Attempting Pipeline Bombing in Rivers
The Nigeria Police in Rivers State reported the killing of suspected vandals attempting to bomb a pipeline in Rumuekpe Aluu. Commissioner Olugbenga Adepoju confirmed the incident and highlighted coordinated efforts to enhance security. The police also conducted a follow-up operation, arresting two suspects with explosives.
On Tuesday, the Nigeria Police Command in Rivers State confirmed the death of several suspected vandals attempting to damage a pipeline in the Rumuekpe Aluu community. Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, announced this to reporters in Port Harcourt, stating that the suspects were killed on-site during the operation.
The operation was part of a coordinated effort with various security agencies aimed at protecting the Rivers State area. Commissioner Adepoju indicated that security forces successfully prevented the vandals from detonating the pipeline, thanks to their prompt action during the incident that occurred on March 16 in the Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Following this successful operation, security forces targeted the Onelga Local Government Area on March 19, where they averting another bombing attempt. Two suspects were apprehended with four dynamites in their possession, further enhancing the security measures in the region. The police also dismantled explosive pods and other components related to Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The Nigeria Police in Rivers State have actively engaged in preventing vandalism and potential bombing incidents, resulting in the death of several suspects and the arrest of others. With coordinated efforts involving multiple security agencies, the police demonstrated effectiveness in countering threats to critical infrastructure, showcasing their commitment to public safety and security in the region.
