Tata Motors has successfully launched its entire electric vehicle (EV) range in Mauritius, in collaboration with Allied Motors, excluding the Curvv.ev model. This introduction includes three notable EV models: Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev, representing a variety of vehicle segments. The Tiago.ev is a compact hatchback equipped with a 24 kWh battery, offering a range of 190 to 210 kilometers.
The Punch.ev represents a compact SUV option, featuring a 35 kWh battery and a range of 270 to 290 kilometers. Further enhancing the lineup, the Nexon.ev stands out as a full-sized electric SUV, boasting a 45 kWh battery and a range of 350 to 375 kilometers. Each model delivers instant torque between 190 Nm and 215 Nm, with the Nexon.ev capable of accelerating in just 8.9 seconds.
Customers purchasing these vehicles will benefit from robust warranties, including 8 years or 160,000 kilometers on the battery and motor, and 7 years or 150,000 kilometers on the vehicle itself. Additionally, complimentary installation of a 7.2 kW home charging wall box is provided. Allied Motors will facilitate sales and after-sales support while utilising Tata Motors’ technical expertise to ensure customer satisfaction.
Tata Motors’ entry into Mauritius comes shortly after their launch in Sri Lanka. Although the specific pricing for the EVs has yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated that the Tiago.ev will be positioned as the most affordable option, with the Punch.ev and Nexon.ev following as premium offerings. Notably, the Curvv.ev was excluded from this initial launch, with hopes that it will be introduced in the future, alongside other models such as the Safari.ev and Harrier.ev pending release in India.
Tata Motors has made a significant advancement in the electric vehicle market by entering Mauritius with its comprehensive EV portfolio. This rollout includes three diverse models, each with compelling specifications and strong warranty offerings, backed by dedicated sales support. The omission of the Curvv.ev may be addressed in subsequent launches, indicating Tata’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle presence both regionally and globally.
