The race marked the 19th occasion that MotoGP hosted the Qatar Grand Prix at the scenic Lusail International Circuit, which features a challenging combination of 16 corners and three heavy braking zones. Despite the team’s previous podium success at this venue, they are still in pursuit of their first trophies this season after competing in Thailand, Argentina, and the USA.
During the qualifying session, Mr. Binder faced challenges as he worked through Q1 during sunset, ultimately finishing 18th on the grid. For the 11-lap Sprint Race, he opted for a soft rear tire, which initially provided him with competitive performance, allowing him to move closer to the top ten. However, as the race progressed, he experienced a decline in grip and crossed the finish line in 14th place.
Following the race, Mr. Binder commented on the experience, stating that the chosen tire was “definitely not the right tire choice” and noted the additional challenges he faced, including running off track on four occasions. He emphasized the need for improvement ahead of the next race, expressing optimism due to the team’s plan to address the issues encountered, saying, “I think we’ll be OK because the guys have some ideas in the pocket.”
